PRP Hair Growth Treatment in Brisbane and The Gold Coast

Hair loss might be a reality for many but this doesn’t mean it’s something you need to live with indefinitely. Thanks to advancements in cosmetic medicine, it’s possible to enjoy a fuller, thicker head of hair without necessarily having to undergo surgery.

At Medici Capelli, PRP hair growth therapy is one of the revolutionary hair replacement treatments that we offer. With the help of Factor4, patients who are struggling with hair loss and alopecia can use the plasma in their own blood to encourage healthy hair growth cycles.

This hair restoration treatment is highly effective and minimally invasive, which is why it is one of the most popular hair loss solutions amongst men and women today.

The Leading Causes of Hair Loss

Women

Millions of women struggle with hair loss every year, with genetics being the leading cause. Hair loss can affect women any time after puberty and can be brought on by anything from stress and surgery to age and hormonal imbalances. Once the hair follicles become too weak, they stop producing hair.

Men

Genetics and the hormone, dihydrotestosterone or DHT, are the two leading causes of hair loss in men. Millions of men are diagnosed with male pattern baldness every year and tend to start losing their hair once the follicles weaken and miniaturise.

PRP is an ideal solution for men and women who have weak hair growth that is causing the hair to thin and fall out. PRP is more ideal for mild to moderate hair loss but it can be combined with hair transplants in more severe cases.

What PRP Hair Growth Treatments Entail

Plasma treatment takes place through the injection of autologous plasma into the scalp, with the goal of stimulating the scalp in order to encourage hair growth. This is what takes place during a typical PRP session.

1. A small amount of blood (less than 50ml) is withdrawn from the patient.

2. Growth factor rich blood serum is isolated, following the incubation and centrifugation of your blood.

3. Factor4 blood serum is filtered and then injected into the area of the scalp which is suffering from hair loss, stimulating hair growth.

PRP hair growth therapy featuring Factor4 can be used as an individual plasma treatment option for our clients, strengthening the hair follicles and reversing any miniaturisation. PRP therapy may also be used as a method of rejuvenating dormant hair follicles and stimulating the growth of new hair.

This plasma treatment can be used in conjunction with any other treatments we offer at our clinic, such as minoxidil, ultimate hair growth supplements, laser therapy or hair transplantation.

What to Expect Following Your PRP Session

Following your PRP session, you should refrain from washing the treated area for at least two days. Thereafter, you can apply your usual products as well as any topical medication that has been prescribed. Patients are also able to resume their usual activities several hours after their session.

Patients can expect some mild discomfort for a day or two and there may also be some bruising but this subsides relatively quickly. If at any point you experience severe pain, schedule a consultation with us as soon as possible. It’s safe to dye or treat your hair one week after your treatment but it’s best to follow any specific aftercare instructions that you are given. This is mainly because any harsh treatments can actually harm your hair follicles over the long run, making treatments such as this quite useless.

In most cases, patients are able to see a noticeable difference to the thickness and quality of their hair six months after their initial treatment. However repeat treatments may be necessary in order to maintain the results – a personalised treatment plan will be created during your consultation depending on your specific requirements.

Since PRP hair growth treatments only require the patient’s own blood, there are no serious side effects associated with this solution. Naturally, the only time that PRP treatments can lead to more serious side effects such as infection is if the sessions are carried out by an unqualified professional.

All PRP treatments are performed with Dr Chris Leat at Envisage Clinic, 154 Ashmore Rd, Benowa. Please phone 55394000.
